Alumni Award Criteria

Good evening gentlemen.

The following are the 3 awards that the Planning Committee have approved for presentation at the Class of 1980 40 Anniversary Reunion. I have also listed a 4^th award that is in need of further development and your assistance is solicited. This award is Outstanding teacher/School Professional award – we need your help in further developing the criteria for this award.

I am copying Wayne Jones of the Planning Committee. I have also copied Wilfred Graham as we will need Wilfred’s assistance to post these documents to the website and share the link with the brothers respectively.

What is expected of the Awards Committee member

As members of the awards committee our role is as follows:

To publicize awards offered by the Class 1980 to ensure outstanding entries.

To actively seek and solicit nominations for awards offered by Class 1980
To evaluate the nominees for each award and to select award recipients in each category for the approval of the Planning Committee.
To plan and carry out the awards ceremony held during the Class of 1980 Reunions.
To review suggestions for new awards, develop criteria and guidelines, and make recommendations Planning Committee.

We are operating under an extremely tight time frame so, please review these documents and provide feedback as soon as possible. I would also like to convene a quick call this week (on Thursday or Friday if possible) to finalize the document and start to formalize the review process.

Please advise of your availability as soon as possible. The goal is to provide Wilfred with the finish product so he can post to the website over the weekend and we start to promote the Awards and solicit nominees.

The following are the Awards that will be presented during the 40^th Anniversary Reunion:

Distinguished Alumni Award – recognizes an alumni for their contribution to their field of work. The Nomination form is also attached
Fire Starter Award – Recognizes an alumni or alumnus who embodies the Fortis spirit
Founders Award – recognizes an alumni for their community volunteer and civic involvement
Outstanding teacher/School professional Award – see the earlier comments on this award.

Again, please advise what works best for a phone call on Thursday and Friday of this week. We should plan on approximately 30-45 minutes.
